Ceramic Transfer Paper – Decorating Made Easy

How does it Work?
Ceramic transfer papers are easy to apply on both flat and curved surfaces and create instant decorating effects with little effort. It’s as simple as applying a child’s tattoo. All you need to do is dampen the back of the transfer paper and press print side down on the surface you are working on. Leave for a few minutes before peeling off the paper to reveal the pattern. Once dry any additional embellishing can be done. If applying a clear glaze, take care by gently dabbing the first coat of glaze over the transfer pattern. Subsequent coats can be brushed on. All our transfers are Japanese made, accounting for their high strength and excellent adhering properties onto raw clay, leather hard, greenware and bisque. They can be applied over painted or unpainted surfaces and finished with clear or transparent glazes and kiln fired to a broad range of temperatures from Cone 05-10. However, we recommend testing with your own glazes and kiln conditions. Please note firing will cause a slight colour change to the transfer pattern, so if matching colours, it is advisable to do a small test piece first.

I have purchased rice paper ceramic decals from several vendors in the past. Some have been better than others. I found Japan Crafts and that they had a few patterns I wanted to try. I was very happy I made the order! The rice papers made it all the way to St Louis, Missouri, USA, in perfect shape. The rice papers are absolutely beautiful, exactly as pictured or better. They also print the design all the way to the edge of the paper. That may sound silly, but it is the reason I had to stop using another vendor as the printed portion of the paper became smaller and smaller. I have used a few of Japan Crafts’ transfers on bisque ware and they transfered perfectly. The pieces are still waiting to make it through the kiln process, I cannot wait to see the finished product! 5 stars all the way, I will be ordering again!
