How does it Work?
Ceramic transfer papers are easy to apply on both flat and curved surfaces and create instant decorating effects with little effort. It’s as simple as applying a child’s tattoo. All you need to do is dampen the back of the transfer paper and press print side down on the surface you are working on. Leave for a few minutes before peeling off the paper to reveal the pattern. Once dry any additional embellishing can be done. If applying a clear glaze, take care by gently dabbing the first coat of glaze over the transfer pattern. Subsequent coats can be brushed on. All our transfers are Japanese made, accounting for their high strength and excellent adhering properties onto raw clay, leather hard, greenware and bisque. They can be applied over painted or unpainted surfaces and finished with clear or transparent glazes and kiln fired to a broad range of temperatures from Cone 05-10. However, we recommend testing with your own glazes and kiln conditions. Please note firing will cause a slight colour change to the transfer pattern, so if matching colours, it is advisable to do a small test piece first.

Purchasing the underglaze transfers was quick and easy. Delivery in just 10 days better than what I get from similar items being shipped from the US. I haven’t had a chance to use the transfers I bought so I can’t comment, but they look just like the pictures which is great.

The underglaze transfers from Japan Crafts are both beautiful and unique. I especially love the Geisha and the Colour Garden underglaze transfer patterns. I’m constantly sending people to the Japan Crafts website when they comment on how extraordinarily beautiful the Colour Garden transfer is and when they bombard me with questions on where to order this design. I work in porcelain which provides the perfect background for these awe inspiring transfers. Another loyal, repeat customer. ☺️

I received the product in a timely manner. The items I ordered are good quality and are quite detailed. I haven’t used them on a clay project yet.

Really pleased with my underglaze transfers from Japan Crafts. This was my second time ordering from them. Both times they slipped in a little “gift”, a sample of other designs. I used them on some colorful clay origami cranes I’m making. Also, considering my order had to be shipped from Australia to the US, I received it in a reasonable amount of time.
